A brief explanation of an accredited investor is, as defined by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under Regulation D, refers to individuals or entities that meet specific financial criteria, enabling them to invest in unregistered securities such as GV Bonds. Individuals qualify by having an annual income of over $200,000 (or $300,000 with a spouse) for the past two years, with an expectation of the same in the current year, or a net worth exceeding $1 million, excluding their primary residence. Entities qualify if they have over $5 million in assets or are owned entirely by accredited investors. These standards are designed to ensure investors can handle the risks associated with private investments.
